2002 micra - engine cuts out intermittently

I have an intermittent problem with my micra.  Starts fine and then cuts out while driving.  The car will not start again and does not turn over.  When I have called the RAC when they arrive the car will start and nothing will show up on the diagnostics so the mechanic is at a loss to what has caused the problem. Has just been in the garage for a week but didn't fault whilst the mechanic drove it so again no diagnosis.  Anyone encountered thus problem or have any idea what it might be?  Used to like micras but starting to hate this one! 😬

Hi Susan....welcome to the Forum

It sounds very much like a Crankshaft Position Sensor or a similar engine rotation sensor which can fail when hot, once cool then the engine starts and runs fine.

Alternatively, a broken wire or corroded electrical connection somewhere in the fuel or ignition system.

Sorry, can't be more specific but it sounds like a generic intermittent fault.

Keep us updated on how this gets sorted.

Cheers  Trevor
