  1. I have a T32 1.6Tdci Auto that usually works like a dream unless in heavy traffic in warm weather. When I sit at lights, in drive, with the foot brake on, I can get the car to overheat, but once i start moving it cools down fairly quickly. When it does hit Red, the cooling fan is not kicking in at all. I can pop the bonnet and the fan is static, even though the car is on the edge of stopping from overheat. My garage says out of the 4 cables to the fan, two have power showing, so they have tried a new relay today. They can't get the car to an overheat temp, but the fan still does not kick in at all, ever. Can anyone tell me on these model should the radiator cooling fan be on when the Air Con is turned on, as there doesn't seem to be an air con fan around the same area. If not, and other good troubleshooting methods? Also to note, when sat in traffic, the air con goes pretty poor, but then is a lot better when moving again, probably down to airflow also. As I saw, normal driving all seems well, but an hour in traffic in London will nearly kill it every time. My trick is to drop to neutral when idling which helps get me by, but I need help troubleshooting the fan / relay / other without the expense of a full Nissan garage diagnosis fee.
  2. Hi all, So after sitting in a queue of traffic for maybe half an hour or more yesterday I noticed the car nearly overheating. When I managed to pull over to let it cool down, I popped the bonnet to look around. The coolant felt very warm, but not sure the radiator was as warm as I would expect. When i got home, I checked again and what I did notice though was the large cooling fan sat behind the radiator wasn't spinning like I would expect. Should this be on permanently or does it only come on when needed?
  3. I have a 2015 X-Trail (T32 1.6DCi Auto) which is often, but not always, coming up with a Stop/Start system fault warning on the dashboard when starting up. So far I have changed the battery for a new start/stop compatible one for this model (so the shop says), and bought a charger to make sure it was fully charged. Still getting the same issue though. Sometimes if I go for a motorway run, next start up it will be ok, and may be ok for a few drives, but then comes back again. I did get my local garage to do me a favour and put their computer on it. That showed lost of Voltage errors, and once cleared it was ok for maybe a week or so. When I tested the voltage on the battery with the engine on and off, it does seem like the alternator is working. From memory the battery was 12v off load, and 14v when engine running, so I assume it is being charged ok. Before I take the expensive step of a Nissan dealer for diagnosis, has anyone got any other troubleshooting steps?
