I recently bought a 2007 Qashqai. Just after purchase I realised the front passenger door doesn't unlock, and sometimes doesn't lock once unlocked from inside.

I took it to Halfords today who said that they didn't know if it was the actual lock or the control system, and my best solution is to talk to Nissan about fixing it. I've just contacted Nissan who told me they want £102 just for a diagnostics and they don't accept the 3rd party warranty I have with the car.

Has anyone else had this problem with the car, and if so what was the issue and how much did it cost to fix?

I would assume the third party warranty should pay up to an amount so I assume you pay up front and claim it back and if the bill is over the amount you pay the extra?

If this is the case then you could take it to Nissan but expect to pay some on top to cover the bill.

It sounds as though it could be a door lock solenoid being faulty but not to exclude the wiring that runs into the door from the pillar.
