I am trying to replace the gear knob on my k12. Should it just twist off? I have tried this but it won't work? Have even slightly damaged the gear knob trying to get it off. Any ideas appreciated

I believe it comes off by banging from underneath

Could try gripping gearknob tight and banging your hand in an upward motion (keeping face out of the way!) .... works on VW and BMW
