2004 Primera 2.2 dci slow starting the first time

Featured Replies

Hi All

got a 2.2dci nissan primera which has a real issue starting, with a cold engine it will sit there with the starter motor turning over for a good 3 attempts and say 10 seconds each.  once it's running it's fine, no issues at all

if i stop it even after just 5 mins or a very short drive, it will then start again after about 2-3 seconds turning over.  let it go totally cold again, i.e when i leave work for home and it takes 30 seconds again

battery doesn't appear to struggle or starter motor slow down when it's turning over

this has only started doing it over the past couple of days, before that it would start at the turn of the key

done an ECU reset but no difference, glowplugs maybe?, any pointers on what to check?

many thanks

Chris

Hi Chris....welcome to the Forum

It sounds like a classic case of faulty glow plug(s),

I would have them checked for resistance and replace the faulty one(s)...shouldn't be too expensive

Cheers  Trevor
