FYI this is mainly when engine is cold and in mornings. Ticking gets quicker as i accelerate . 

Once engine has warmed up, the noise is barely audible.

That sounds like a drivebelt or the tensioner bearing to me.

Easiest way is to gently introduce some water to the belt and or tensioner, if the noise goes then its a dry belt or bearing.

HI , so applied wd40 however noise was still present , especially when accelerating . . 

Engine wasnt so cold but noise still remained ..

 

I would pop it into a reputable garage for them to check it over then, just in case it leads to something a bit more serious (cam chain, etc)
