I’ve just purchased a 2009 pixo for my daughters first car 

It has 58000 miles on clock with a book full of service history 

my question is does it have a cam belt or chain ? And when should it be replaced/changed ?

This Nissan makes use of a timing chain, not a belt. A timing chain is designed to last the entire operational life span of the vehicle, so assuming all goes well then You should not need to bother with it.
