Have a rattle on quashqai 1.2 turbo under hood ,drivers side at around 2000rpm , any ideas  what is causing this ? Been told it isn't exhaust.

It is hard to say from the soundtrack but you could check (on a cold engine) the heatshields on the exhaust manifold area to see that they are secure
Found a strange one on a Toyota and it was at first thought a heat shield or similar but turned out to be the grille badge was loose and vibrating, removed it, siliconed it and refitted and now a lot quieter
