Nissan Qashqai 1.5 e-POWER battery longevity

Featured Replies

Hi guys!

Recently saw this car on reviews and was quite intrigued. As far as I understand, it is basically an EV and the petrol engine acting only as a generator. The battery size however is the real concern for me. At only 2.1 kwh it is relatively small for an "EV" and I would imagine it will go through charge cycles a lot during operation. Not sure about the chemistry of this battery, but I'm assuming it is NCM with around 1500 cycles lifespan. Assuming an efficiency of 3 miles per kwh, this is only 9450 miles before it start to deteriorate rapidly. Does anyone have any insight on this, am I mistaken or is it a real cause of concern?

You may notice some drop off on efficiency but then this is hard to calculate over time as it depends on weather, type of road being used (urban, motorway, etc), ambient temperatures, traffic and so many other factors that I would worry too much about it and maybe part with the car if you do notice some serious deterioration to the charge and output rate
