Help needed whistling noise

Hi everyone, 

looking for some help and advice! 
i have a 2011 Nissan Qashqai 1.5 

I have noticed there is a ‘whistling’ noise coming from engine area, it seems to start once the engine warms up and Ive been driving a while, I then noticed when the clutch is engaged the noise stops … foot off clutch it starts again, but the whistle itself can be intermittent. I have been told it is the ‘throw out bearing’ but upon doing some research it could be something else and something alot less costly… has anyone had this or can advise?? 
I have limited funds and I am wondering if I should question mechanic and maybe try other options first. 
 

any help would be greatly appreciated.
