Qashqai new to me

Hi everyone I have just purchased a 2016 Qashqai Tekna 1.5 diesel private sale (so no recourse) and on the way home I had the warning on the dash low oil level so I stopped at the next garage to check it, I undid the oil filler and dipstick combined to find the lid and stick had parted company so had to pull the stick out with pliers anyway the oil was not low it was between low and full and I have it booked in for a service at my local garage (not main agent) on the 24th of this month, is this problem with the dipstick a common one and is there a simple fix or do I have to replace, I am sure over the next few weeks I will drive everyone mad with questions but you have to ask to learn thanks everyone
