There is radio decoding software out there (and even Facebook has quite a few links to people who can supply you with a number) but either way you will need the serial number from the unit which means removing it from the dashboard (unless you have it written down somewhere)

With the ignition switched OFF, insert the ignition key into the front passenger airbag switch, located in the glove box. Press the key and turn it to the OFF position. or also mentions that there is a switch on the passenger end of the dashboard which can be viewed with the door open

It could be battery condition if it is that old so worth starting with a test and replace if necessary Also worth checking all earth leads from the battery onto the engine and transmission back to the chassis. If any of these are corroded or broken that could cause the problem

Sounds like it could be leaking turbo boost pressure. Is there any splits in the intercooler, hoses or pipes.....usually accompanied by a wooshing or farting sound if split

I'm sure Eurocarparts or GSF or some other local motor factors could source an aftermarket pump or associated components Not sure of costs though but surely would be cheaper than the dealership

Sounds like a vacuum leak from one of the hoses on the inlet manifold Check all hoses for perishing and leaks which you may also be able to hear as a hissing sound

Split turbo boost pipe (usually a wooshing or whistling sound associated with this) or variable vanes sticking with carbon and need cleaning

Crikey that's an unusual fault. I wonder why the pump went out of timing - either something is worn (timing chain) or it was incorrectly timed in the past and was on the threshold and then dropped off the edge Thank you for sharing the rectification of this fault....you never know, someone else may benefit from it in the future.

Look on EuroCarParts website where you can put your registration number in and look up flywheel and see what it is described as Welcome to put screenshot of your findings on here and we can look to see if it is DMF

Try this procedure, I have successfully used this for an X-Trail key before Insert the key into the ignition, but don't start the car, then remove the key. Do this about six times, although it can take up to 10 times. When your car accepts the Key, the hazard lights will flash twice. Now you're in program mode.

If one of the earth straps was corroded then check any other ones that are there....it is quite common for this sort of fault to occur due to poor earths Also check the battery terminals are tight and corrosion free Let us know what you find

I would check the battery terminals and leads, particularly the earth leads from the battery to engine, engine to chassis and see if the connections are sound

Scrapyards are the best bet for a replacement axle due to the age of the car. There should be plenty around so wouldn't be difficult to find one

It may be worth completely filling the tank for a while so that it dilutes the mix Otherwise it may just need a good run up the motorway for an extended period in a lower gear to keep the revs up for it to regenerate

Sounds familiar but not all the engines suffer from it so not sure why this particular one The 1.6 petrol is a very strong engine and pretty much trouble free
