March 2, 20178 yr Recently acquired a 2016 Qashqai DCI with the 1461 diesel engine, would like to continue doing my own servicing but I am having difficulty accessing the oil filter which, though readily visible high up on the engine block, is obstructed by pipes and by the top canopy (acoustic baffle?) If I could get the top canopy off, I think I could tackle the filter but there are no obvious signs of attachment. Does it just pull off, or is there a hidden clip/trigger to release it? Any advice would be appreciated.
March 2, 20178 yr Hi I would highly recommend taking the vehicle to the dealership for the first few services to keep the service history updated and also to benefit from any recall/updates that may have been released since the vehicle was last in for service. Nowadays, there are a lot of special tools for removal of components and it you cannot see anything obvious on the oil filter housing then quite possibly there is a special tool for this.
March 2, 20178 yr Author Thanks Trevor, I've always been an owner/maintainer for more than 50 years and had my previous Nissan for 17 years without the need for taking it to a garage other than for warranty work but I understand the logic of your advice. Hoping someone will have the knowledge........
March 2, 20178 yr Totally understand where you're coming from...I'm the same but I draw the line at when it comes to special tools and diagnostic software updates (special tools again!) then got to concede to the specialists for those jobs....or spend a fortune on the tools. Good luck
