Can anyone help, I have a 1.3 nissan qashqai n connecta, It says I am getting 42.6 mile to the gallon, I have done a 14 mile round journey and the petrol gauge moved 3 times on that short journey, is this normal or is it unusual? I am definitely not getting what it says I am getting, can anyone advise me with any help with this please?

The MPG read out is based on average driving styles, e.g. hard acceleration, hills (up or down) and can fluctuate wildly.
Over a set period of time it will settle down to a more precise average rather than bouncing up and down
