  2. its amazing how powerful the media can be in resolving such issues with manufacturers - keep trying as you may get a good outcome
  3. Thank you - the ombudsman is the direction we are heading but I am surprised the DVSA has not taken it seriously as I have read about lots of other people who had the same experience but in much more dangerous situationseg: on motorways and again with no dashboard warnings. Nissan have apparently revamped this part a few times but shocked how they have washed their hands without any help.
  4. you could try running it through Google Lens which may identify the model
  5. i would say its a case for the ombudsmen and certainly run it past citizens advice to get some more guidance on pursuing a claim If unsuccesful then a secondhand engine (with the revised cooling system parts) may be the most financially advisable way forwards

  7. I had a catastrophic Qashqai engine failure without warning. Thermostat housing split open leaking coolant, the engine overheated and an engine warning light only came on a few seconds before I came to a total standstill. RAC rescue van confirmed he had come across this problem with Qashqai’s before, my garage confirmed this was the issue and with minimal research we found other Qashqai drivers had exactly the same experience as me. My husband stopped just last week to talk to another Qashqai driver in Norwich who had the same issue. Nissan have been totally unhelpful - they said I would have to pay £180 for a diagnosis and of course as the engine wasn’t working I would have also had to pay for transport. The DVSA said Nissan were aware of this problem and were dealing with it but not so in my case - I have never had any notification that there was an issue with this part failing. Nissan gave an outline price for reconditioned engine replacement of £11,500 - £3000 more than the car was worth. The particularly frustrating part about this is I had loved my car - it was in pretty perfect shape. We have lost £8000-9000 and it seems incredibly wasteful when Nissan could have recalled Qashqais and changed this relatively cheap part.

  9. I recently got a 2019 Tekna which I'm finding is very "jittery" at low speeds, particularly when cold. Anyone else finding the sane?

  14. Certainly a cheap fix but should it be necessary on a new vehicle?
  15. Just joined. So thought I'd say hello from sunny (lol) Southend on Sea.
  16. Hi all. New-to-me owner here - an NP300 N-Guard - picked up 2 weeks ago and still getting to grips with it. Former owner of a T31 X-Trail for 11 years, so sticking with a known and (reasonably) well-trusted brand. Only after purchase and after a 200+ mile drive home did I realise that there was no 'key nut' for the lock-nuts on the tarmac-touching wheels, but a trip to the local dealer sorted that particular issue (at a cost, obviously). In putting the truck in to a local provider of underbody rust protection treatment yesterday. I learned that there was a security lock nut applied to the spare wheel too. Guess what? The key nut required for that, which attaches to a T-bar in the provided toolkit, wasn't anywhere to be found either, so the guy couldn't fully complete his treatment on the underside of the tub. I spoke to both previous owners of the vehicle, and neither could recall having seen nor had need to use that part (nor the key nut for the 'in-use' wheels. Too far down the line to know for sure if they weren't originally provided, or if someone's memory isn't what it should be. However, fact is, if I get a puncture and need to replace a wheel, I'm screwed until I get a key nut to drop the spare wheel. I called the local dealership after talking to the two previous owners. I explained my situation and, of course, a key nut is available to order (again, at cost), but as part of a set replacing the whole set-up, and removing the old part is, according to the parts guy, "tricky, but do-able". He added that the key nut would have to be part of a set 'cos the current lock nut would have a different design. Having looked online at images for the offending parts, it seems that the 'pattern' of the lock and key nuts are the same in every one, and this applies to D40 and NP300 models. Can anyone confirm if this is the case, please? If so, I can get a set off ebay for £20 less than Nissan are charging. Thanks in advance.
  17. I have a nissan qashqai j11 reversing problem. When I put in reverse and try to move the engine stop, it is a manual diesel stop start.

  19. Thanks for your reply, This is what I have tried to put in, but as soon as I input my Registration Number for a quote, it automatically fills in Electric in the field, and I’m unable to change it -I can’t find anywhere to put petrol hybrid in the insurance search sites!
  20. I'm having problems removing my wheels, having taken out the 4 wheel bolts the wheel seems to be stuck to the hub of the wheel. Any help please.

  24. Just about to purchase insurance for my 2024 inissan X-TRAIL E POWER N-CONNECTA, and am unsure what to put as fuel type. Some places pre-fill as Electric for fuel type, and others class a a Hybrid. Be very glad if any advice please!!! Thanks
  25. I have programmed fobs in the past and they have to be programmed at the same time rather than doing it later as it is opened for programming within the timeframe
  26. If it were me I would go over everything I have touched and ensure it is not damaged (as much as you can determine) and that there is nothing interfering with the component or wiring coming from it. This has worked many times for me when I have been in a rush and not noticed something simple
  27. It looks like a damper for the throttle, EGR or similar
  28. Certainly never heard of this before but if that appears to resolve the issue then its an easy (and cheap) fix 🙂
