Hi Rod....welcome to the Forum I know what you mean about dealer prices and never buy any parts from them over all the years, especially as you can get parts of equal quality for a fraction of the price. Are you sure it is a hydraulic tappet and not timing chain/belt tensioner or associated components. I would usually just run a flush through the engine to clean out any oilways that may be sludged up and then put a quality oil back in...usually does the job. Hi....welcome to the Forum There are plenty of OBDII readers on eBay but very few of them will read Nissan diagnostics beyond a code read unfortunately. I struggled to find one for my XTrail and ended up using my Snap On Scanner on it as it was the only one with enough coverage....maybe worth looking for a secondhand one? You could run a trickle charger to it while it is still connected

I'm sure there is another post on this forum regarding a similar fault....worth a search to see if any useful information. Otherwise, there would be some sort of filter in the pickup pump that may block or allow air to enter the system

There could be several issues affecting the power supply to the pump, system relay, crank sensor, immobiliser, fuel cut off valve, fuel pressure switch to name but a few. Probably best to run a diagnostic on the other systems to see if any live data reveals an issue. Also, worth checking all earth straps as these can be problematic on Nissans

It would be worth separating the keys as they can corrupt if on the same keyring. Also, if you constantly press the button away from the car, this can also roll the code on and the car has to relearn the code to start up. Battery life can be diminished by a faulty fob or just cheap batteries, so worth checking but if both fobs don't work then I would imagine it to be a fault with the car instead. Sometimes on some Nissans, the buttons break off the circuit boards inside the fob and you can get a repair kit for this on eBay.

Not sure if you can use a bent screwdriver tip and some pliers to extract it as it should be on a detent which stops it from pulling out ordinarily. Just needs a little bit more force I'd say. You could delete out the previous photos and use compression software for all new ones, that should solve the issue

I have had some in the past and quite honestly they do look quite cheap....maybe try some UK manufactured or OE ones...big difference!

Maybe worth roughing up the edges slightly with sandpaper to key it up and then try something like Araldite

They certainly do make a difference, not only to the turbulence and also the noise levels. Looking forward to seeing how they look on the car.

The link you attached is exactly the sort of kit I was referring to with all components to replace the standard OE (and of poor quality) parts. I would contact them and ask for compatibility of your engine, but it is most definitely worth getting it all done for peace of mind....regardless of whether it has been done before when poor quality parts may have been fitted for an economical repair.
