What are the chances that this is going to happen soon? I'm currently driving a Qashqai which I'm happy with but soon I'll be upgrading to something with a little off-road capability (for trips to remote places in UK and Europe with no real road structure, just rocky old paths). 

Anyone care to share their thoughts on this?

The X-Trail should be perfectly capable of traversing rough roads but wouldn't chance it for anything too demanding.

I look at the capabilities of most Crossovers and believe that most of them will get you out of a sticky situation if necessary but then that is subject to having the right sort of tyres fitted (e.g. dual purpose - M/S - Mud & Snow type).

Let us know what happens with the upgrade
