Hey Guys,

I have bought this Pathfinder in Toronto in 2014. and I have used it in Newfoundland, I loved it...

I moved back to Europe, and last May I shiped the Nissan to Europe. When I have driven out from the port it ran perfectly, except the battery was dead… I drove 10min, than I left it running to charge the battery. When I set in the car and wanted to start giving gas and it stoped. When I started again it was like a tractor, than engine stoped. After changing many parts, like:

  • sparking plugs
  • they cleand the patrol tank
  • changed ic
  • changed ignition transformers
  • gasoline pump
  • they also checked the powetrain and the computer

... the Pathfinder still doesn’t run. Mechanic said if he takes the sparks out and let it get dry, it starts. Engine runs at least for 5 minutes. It doesn’t react at all for the gas pedal, but the RPM goes up to 2000 and it stays there as long as it stops again. He thinks too much fuel goes into it. The problem is that in Europe non of the services has experience with this car. Not even Nissan in Germany or Hungary.

It is a 2005 Pathfinder 4.0L 6cyl SE with automatic transmition.

I appreciate for any advise

Hi

It sounds like you have picked up some bad quality fuel somewhere along the line.

Also, consider replacing the battery if it is still not 100% fit for purpose.....a battery with dead cells or heavily sulphated can cause running faults.

Let us know what you find

The only other thing I can think of is the Coolant temperature sensor giving out the wrong information....worth checking that because if it is running in the cold setting then it could overfuel the engine.
