I'm currently driving a Qashqai which I'm happy with but soon I'll be upgrading to something with a little off-road capability (for trips to remote places in UK and Europe with no real road structure, just rocky old paths). Trevor Posted July 4, 2016 Share Posted July 4, 2016 Hi, The X-Trail should be perfectly capable of traversing rough roads but wouldn't chance it for anything too demanding. I look at the capabilities of most Crossovers and believe that most of them will get you out of a sticky situation if necessary but then that is subject to having the right sort of tyres fitted (e.g. dual purpose - M/S - Mud & Snow type).
