Kostas13 Posted Tuesday at 05:56 PM Posted Tuesday at 05:56 PM Hello, my partner drives a Micra DIGs. It has approximately 70k miles. Upon starting it there is a distinct belt or tensioner/pulley squeal.. it comes from the front end of the engine. It does go away fairly fast as soon as the revs go up. I know I should change the belt and see but I have two questions: 1) does anyone know the exact part code or any to the right type of belt? 2) is it doable for someone with basic knowledge/tools and space? I have changed drive belts/tensioners/plugs coils/filters oil etc in a c7 corvette and in a zl1 camaro on my driveway but those (being yanks) can be very easy cars to work on and didn’t require any big parts to come out. (Only fuse boxes/filters etc). thanks in advance guys
Trevor Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago It does sounds like a loose or worn belt but equally I have found so many of the new belts nowadays are more silicon based than rubber based compound. They slip for a past time until they get warm. Try to stick to genuine manufacture belt (avoid anything made in china) Check also the tensioner is okay and if worn then replace this at the same time
