  1. I believe it is on the bulkhead or inner wing area or if not it may be built into the tank itself
  2. I would have the battery condition checked. Although it may start every time, the condition may be slight off par and this could affect the stop/start system and also it may need the charging system voltage to be reset (if required) as this can flag the light
  3. Does the engine performance suffer when the light comes on? I would definitely take the car to another garage to have it checked as it should be a straightforward diagnosis and repair and definitely not a serious issue that would cost £4.5k to resolve
  4. Not sure what could be if it sounds electronic If not then it could be a vacuum leak from the engine/brake servo which could sound like a beep sound?
  5. Only other thing I can think of is an engine flush and the oil refreshing once more. A garage should be able to take readings of the oil pressure to determine if it is up to scratch, if not then flush the engine.
  6. SOunds like poor connections due to corrosion. Chances are the battery terminals or starter terminals are corroded ....check these and go from there. Don't forget to check all the earth leads and connections as well
  7. I would imagine the sensor should be centrally mounted so under the center console is more than likely location
  8. I would definitely get an oil and filter change as soon as possible to start with
  9. Hi....welcome to the Club Generally, the Qashqui is reliable but the older ones were more prone to recurring faults. However, it is like any other car, as long as the servicing is kept up to date then this will limit the unreliability issues (hopefully)
  10. Thanks for the heads up, not sure if this will become an issue for many makes of car in the future. Nice to know the solution though, thanks for passing it onto the forum
  11. Hi....welcome to the Club Let's hope you won't need the advice from members and continue to have trouble free motoring. Good to have you onboard!
  12. I believe it is air in the system which you can clear by turning the wheel from lock to lock
  13. Usually when you remove the circlip (work it off by using a small flat blade screwdriver) and usually the shaft will come off with a soft faced hammer (copperhide or plastic)
  14. Here is a handy site to see which oil you need https://www.castrol.com/en_gb/united-kingdom/home/car-engine-oil-and-fluids/motor-oil-and-fluids-finder.html?customerType=retail
  15. If it were me I would go with the steel rims as more durable off road
  16. Yes, you can....somewhere like Milner Brothers would have them but also remember to raise the rear as well to match the ride height
  17. Hi Rob....welcome to the Club Hard to say but would probably necessitate you removing the passenger door card to see which wires have been cut and simply reconnect them to get it working once more
  18. They look like breather pipes but check out all other vacuum hoses on the manifold for cracks and perishing and replace if necessary
  19. Great to have you onboard Paul Elliott ....feel free to post up some piccys of the car and also the magazine article would be interesting to see
  20. That's unfortunate and likely to continue if you don't coat the vunerable parts with grease. I would advise you coat all areas that are likely to be affected and see where that goes
  21. Hi Mike Merry Christmas. If you take it apart you may find that the small microswitches may have come away from the circuit board. Not sure if it affects the QX but it is common on the X-Trail (similar to the Renault electronics) Not too difficult to resolder or get some replacements from eBay to fit and no programming needed
  22. Probably more economical as well Maybe worthwhile looking through Autocar reviews on both models to see how they fair in a road test
  23. Not sure on the differences without doing a side by side comparison and also taking it for an extended test drive and seeing how they compare. If you are looking to trade before Christmas means the trader would probably be keen to make the sale so a good deal could possibly be had at this time of year.
