  1. It could be that one is a passive (analogue) sensor and the other is an active (digital) sensor
The two wire (analogue) sensor probably won't work with your system and if the old gearbox is still around then try to recover it to fit into your new box

  2. I have one similar to yours in my car and the aux port is around the back of the unit so I guess you have to run a lead to it behind the dash possibly
Mostly everything is run through Bluetooth nowadays

  3. It would be necessary to take the wiper blades off and also the rubber seals and the rest just undoes with screws and pull up to remove

Have you also tried compressed air down the jet (does clear the muck but unless the hose is removed then it just sends it down the tube so best to disconnect it beforehand

  4. That definitely sounds like a poor earth somewhere in the engine bay area.....check the earth lead from the battery and any that may be attached to the engine and body

Also on the offchance, it may be something simple like a bulb.....check the rear indicator and tail lamp bulbs are the correct type as sometimes if incorrect they can backfeed current through the electrical system and create faults like you describe

  5. Definitely sounds like movement in the transmission so there should be a brace type mount to limit the movement between the body and the gearbox

  6. Threaten an ombudsman to the RAC directly and see what they come up with
They may have an independent assessor go to the garage which they should do if the garage is an approved repairer
