  1. At least the bolts will be nice and free from corrosion 🙂
  2. Hi...welcome to the Forum I agree with the diagnosis of the timing chains and I would also recommend to take it to Nissan to see if there is any recall on this issue. If they say they can repair it for extortionate amounts then I would recommend finding a Nissan specialist or a reputable independent garage who can carry out the task of replacing the timing chain assembly. It is common enough for timing chain replacements on many engines so it shouldn't be too difficult to find someone who can sort it for you, its just then a matter of cost. Let us know how you get on with it all
  3. Hi.....welcome to the Forum The Pathfinder is a very capable vehicle and hopefully you won't have any questions (well at least technical ones in the event of mechanical failure) Good to have you onboard
  4. Hi.....welcome to the Forum It may be worthwhile to fit them to the headlamps while they are out, assuming it is not a bumper off job 😞 Let us know how you get on with it
  5. I rebuilt the handbrake mechanism on my X-Trail recently and am not convinced that they are 100% perfect even now, waited for them to bed in and re-adjusted but still leave in gear as not the most effective handbrake I've encountered. My only thoughts are if you adjust the handbrake until the are just about slightly dragging the disc surface and then there is no sideways movement possible. The adjustment can be made externally through the hole in the disc face. Beyond that, I'm really not sure what else could be causing this issue.
  6. It could be that it was not reassembled correctly when it removed and replaced previously? Is it both sides or just the one slipping off?
  7. Hi....welcome to the Forum Here's a couple of diagrams but you would need to verify they are correct for your vehicle. ******************************************************************************************************************************************
  8. Hi....welcome to the Forum This diagram shows it being at the bottom of the engine block
  9. Hi Jamie.....welcome to the Forum If the shoes and mechanism looks fine then you can adjust them to the drum (inside of the disc) via a small hole on the outer face of the disc. The hole lines up with the ratchet wheel around the 5 o'clock and 7 o'clock position on one side and the other one. Use a flat-blade screwdriver to turn the wheel until the disc locks up, back off slightly and its adjusted. Take up any slack on the handbrake cable and 'voila!'
  10. Hi Gilly......welcome to the Forum How are you finding the X-Trail?
  11. I would try to stick to the recommended fluid and I would also recommend to change the fluid (and filter) before it is due as you'll find it will make a noticeable difference to the drive but also ensures a longer life for the gearbox.
  12. Hi....welcome to the Forum I would suggest taking a trip to Halfords and seeing their range of replacement audio. If you are not confident to replace it yourself then they can do this for you (at a cost) and also sell simple plug in adapters to avoid getting into wiring up the new one.
  13. Good luck with it and if in doubt 'read the handbook' Essential bedtime reading 🙂
  14. Thanks for sharing the information, always very handy to know the cause of these issues
  15. Hi....welcome to the Forum I have encountered similar issues with the Honda infotainment system but not sure about the Nissan version. I think it may be a case of working through the various steps of the manual to reveal any more info on how it operates Let us know how you get on with it
  16. Hi Dawn. I also fell foul to the same issue recently, albeit I knew I had to dip the clutch pedal but I hadn't pressed it down far enough (only by a fraction) which was enough for it not to start. I then altered the seat setting a little closer and this resolved the issue. It does take a bit of getting used to and also the handbrake can be daunting until familiar with it.
  17. Hi....welcome to the Forum It looks like a multi-purpose tool which was probably a manufacturer 'give away' gift Bottle opener, tin opener, etc
  18. Hi...welcome to the Forum Enjoy the Qashqai when you get it and at least the roads are quite empty so you can give it a good shakedown back home from the dealership. Good to have you onboard
  19. Hi.....welcome to the Forum I am slightly worried that they wish to change the transmission fluid but if its not too costly and it will ensure the transmission is trouble-free for years to come then it may be a viable option. The Brake Fluid and Coolant do need changing every two years regardless of mileage as they deteriorate over time and the Brake Fluid will absorb moisture from the atmosphere. Let us know how it all goes
  20. Hi....welcome to the Forum I don't think there is much else you can do to lower the RPM at 100kph.....you've already gone for higher ratio tyres, so the only other thing is to fit another gear ratio(s).' I'm not sure which box will fit though, so may be a case of living with the higher RPM. Let us know what route you go with it and would love to see some pics of the Laurel
  21. Hi Dawn.....welcome to the Forum Couldn't find a specific link to online service information but think this may be somewhere to start https://www.nissan.co.uk/ownership/you-plus.html

  25. Hi all, I own a T30 X-Trail with the 2.2 DCi engine. Got to say its an improvement over my earlier T30 that I owned which was nothing but trouble. This one after a lot of maintenance is now a dream to own Cheers, Trevor
